Pro-Tip Tuesday: Switch it up for Summer

11:00 AM

Just like you make the switch from cozy cashmere sweaters in the winter to light cotton sweaters for Spring, you should change up some of the products in your beauty routine. The hot and humid days of summer require lighter primers and moisturizers as well as essential SPF. These are just a few of my favorite Summer time products, some of which, I can't live without!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen: I hate feeling sticky after applying sunscreen so this sunscreen was pretty much made for me. It's light and smells really good. Use a different sunscreen on your face though, the fragrance and formula can cause breakouts.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: This primer is so lightweight you can barely feel it. I use a tiny amount, about the size of a pea, and it effectively gets the job done. Super silky, super smooth, and oil-free, my skin loves it. It has SPF but don't be fooled, you still need sunscreen, using such a minimal amount of product renders the SPF in it useless.

Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel: My absolute favorite moisturizer for summer. It's a gel, so it's extremely lightweight but is still an effective moisturizer. The black gel is cooling on hot summer nights, and refreshing in the morning. The only thing I don't love about this product is the dispenser; you push down on the top and it comes up but you never know quite how much product it's going to spurt out. I can live with that though, because my skin always feels great and it doesn't clog my pores.

Bare Minerals Natural Sunscreen Powder: I bought this one year to carry around in my bag so I could reapply sunscreen to my face throughout the day at the beach and after work and it's been great. There's sunscreen in the powder and it's easy to apply with the attached brush. Push a button, apply the product, and you're golden thanks to the tinted formula.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Salt Spray: Officially replaced Bumble & Bumble's Surf Spray in my arsenal after trying a sample. I love this product for humid days when my hair decides to hold a wave, and the trigger style spray nozzle makes it easy to work into hair.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil: First off, this is a year-round must-have for me, but it is especially effective in the Summer because of its UVA/UVB filtering formula. It protects from heat, and reduces frizz while adding just the right amount of shine. A little goes a long way, I use only 3 drops on my fine hair.
