Pro-Tip Tuesday: Shopping for Glasses Made Easy

11:00 AM

I hate going to the doctor; The actual doctor, dentist, optometrist, whatever it may be, I absolutely dislike it. The lonely sterile rooms, the odd instruments, and the never ending waiting is pretty much the worst thing ever since the DMV. So after spending over an hour at the optometrist, the last thing I want to do is spend another hour (or more) in their shop perusing overpriced eyeglasses and lenses.

Enter GlassesUSA.com! GlassesUSA offers quality frames and lenses at a discounted price. Styles from your basic frames to designer goods from Jil Sander, Tom Ford, Oscar De La Renta, and Ray Ban are available at very reasonable prices. Bingo! I went straight home from the doc armed with my new prescription and after browsing their site over a few days, I finally settled on a pair from See Line. Placing an order with GlassesUSA was really easy; after you've found a great pair of glasses, Simply enter your prescription information and wait for your new specs to arrive.

After you've placed your order, the hard work is done! Simply check your email for status and shipping updates and keep an eye on the mailbox for that special delivery. I've placed orders at similar sites such as Zenni Optical, but I must say the quality of the frames I received from GlassesUSA are by far superior to those I own from Zenni. They feel sturdy, not cheap and in addition, each pair comes with a  real hard case (not a cheapie plastic one) and a lens cloth.

Here are a few tips to make your online prescription glasses experience the best possible:

  • Be sure you have your optometrist measure your pupilary distance, as this is a measurement not typically found on an eye prescription. Without it your new glasses may feel a little off.
  • Find the measurements of your favorite and most flattering pair of glasses or sunglasses and use these as a reference for picking and choosing the right frames. I am a fairly petite little lady, so I know frames with a total width larger than 135 mm won't work well on me. Alternatively, you can use their new virtual mirror tool and see how they will look on you straight from their site.
  • Check for coupon codes! GlassesUSA has some great coupons and deals if you keep your eyes peeled! Right now you can save 10% on your order with code Blog10.

Don't take my word for it, check out GlassesUSA.com for yourself the next time you're looking to buy glasses. I think you'll really like what you find, especially if you've used other sites in the past. I absolutely love the glasses I received, and the gold marble detailing is gorgeous. So, what do you think of my new glasses?

I was provided a $50 gift card to purchase frames for review purposes. All views and opinions expressed are my own.
