What I Wore: Vintage Printed Shirt Dress

3:48 PM

Summertime dressing can be tricky, especially for work. On the one hand, you need to be polished and presentable, but on the other it's blazing hot, often humid, and you never know if your morning commute on the subway will involve air conditioning or 50+ of your smelliest, closest friends.

One of my go-to summer pieces is a great shirt dress. In a classic cut for work or a modern shift style for play, a shirt dress is comfortable, cool, and effortlessly polished. I'm in love with this vintage Karen Millen shirt dress for the office. The pattern is bold, but the neutral colors make it acceptable for business casual workplaces or casual Friday in more professional settings. When I wore it to work my boss told me I looked like I was an important business woman. I definitely felt like one!

I went all out with gold and tan accessories for this look. A little over the top? Definitely; but totally me. Skip the bangles and swap the statement necklace for a simple pendant, and the sandals for nude closed toe pumps if you're heading to work.
