Know Your Value (And Own It!)

2:03 PM

If you're a fan of Morning Joe on MSNBC you're familiar with co-host Mika Brzezinski and her unapologetic, take charge attitude. You may have even read some of her books covering popular topics ranging from American eating habits to the cliche, "having it all." Recently, she's taken to the road to share her expertise on a very specific matter-- empowering women to Know Your Value and own it. With fashion designer Michelle Smith, Harper's Bazaar editor Laura Brown, and a bevy of industry experts ranging from the founder of JetBlue, money savvy blogger The Budgetnista, and renowned personalities and journalists like Joe Scarborough and Meredith Vieira

Michelle Smith of MILLY by Michelle

Mika & Meredith!

I was lucky enough to attend the Know Your Value conference here in Boston and I was blown away by the energy in the room! So many motivated women determined to get what they deserve. It was a beautiful and empowering thing! It was a long day, we arrived at the JFK Presidential Library just after 8am. After coffee and pastries it was a packed morning of speakers and panelists. We heard from US Ambassador Samantha Power, Red Sox President Larry Lucchino, and Senior White House Correspondent Chris Jansing
. I was lucky enough to grab a few minutes to interview fashion designer Michelle Smith of MILLY by Michelle, which was a major pinch-me moment in my blogging career. (Stay tuned for the interview!)

Bonus Competitors
After lunch, there were even more amazing speakers (like Laura Brown and author Amy Cuddy) and we heard the final pitches from the finalists in the Grow Your Value Bonus Competition. We heard from three amazing women who asserted their value and were determined to earn their shot at a $10,000 prize to achieve their dreams. Each contestant was teamed up with a coach and set up with a style consultation from Michelle Smith herself. It was amazing to hear their stories and their plans for the future.

Me & Mika!
The day ended with a cocktail session and an opportunity to mix and mingle with some of Boston's movers and shakers. I learned so much and was lucky enough to meet Mika herself and have her sign a copy of her book, Knowing Your Value: Women, Money, and Getting What You're Worth which I am really looking forward to reading this winter! Mika just released Grow Your Value, a follow up to Knowing Your Value, which I also suggest you add to your reading list.

And If you're in the Florida area I highly encourage you to attend Know Your Value, Tickets are still available for the November 20th conference in Orlando, grab one while you can!
