Valentine's Day Staycation at The Godfrey!

11:20 PM

When it comes to holidays (especially holidays like Valentine's Day) I prefer to keep things low key and less about gifts or candy or stuff and a little more about experience. So this Valentine's Day I opted for an overnight staycation at the newly opened Godfrey Hotel in Downtown Crossing. With a lively hotel bar and a location just steps away from the best of both Downtown Crossing and Chinatown, this chic boutique hotel is just what Downtown Boston was lacking.

Upon check in I was given a heart shaped whoopie pie and a mini bottle of Minionetto Rosè, the perfect touch from the concierge for Valentine's Day weekend, if you ask me! After dropping off my bags and settling into my room I grabbed dinner at B.Good and brought it back to my 10th floor room while I waited for my Valentine to join me. You can bet that I ate it in bed, wrapped in a luxurious white robe, tucked into pristine white Frette sheets which I immediately spilled sriracha sauce on. (Oops!)

The Godfrey is super tech friendly with complimentary wi-fi, smart TVs (log into your Netflix account and chill!), and rechargeable Bluetooth speakers in every room. Obviously once my Valentine arrived we did what any other couple would do and binge watched Nurse Jackie on Netflix and ordered late night pizza from New York Pizza while munching on chocolate and sipping champagne. Perfect evening if you ask me!

The next morning we slept in and just barely made it to breakfast which consisted of a spread of complimentary coffee, juice, pastries, and yogurt. We took that back to the room and I immediately got back into my robe and back into bed. Needless to say, we requested a late check out and enjoyed a few more hours in our room.

What stood out to me about The Godfrey was not only the chic minimal decor, but their excellent service. I wanted to leave flowers for my Valentine so they would be in our room when we arrived and they were more than happy to accommodate my request on the day before check in. Room service was quick to bring up an extra robe and slippers upon request and their concierge team was personable and helpful, chatting us up on check in and check out and offering suggestions for dinner as well as shopping in the area. After checking out we left our bags with the concierge and explored Downtown Crossing and Faneuil Hall before heading home.

All in all, it was a relaxing weekend spent in good company and I really can't recommend The Godfrey highly enough. Right now you can score a great deal for a staycation of your own and soon The Godfrey will be adding a coffee shop and restaurant to their offerings. More on that coming soon!
