Birthday Weekend at Foxwoods Resort Casino!

6:22 PM

As I get older, birthdays have become less about presents and parties and more about sharing new experiences and adventures. This year my birthday fell on a Monday so I opted to celebrate with a weekend trip to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. It was the perfect way to ring in 27!

This was my third trip to Foxwoods, but my first time staying at their hotels. I opted for a room with a double bed at the Grand Pequot Hotel and was impressed with the size of the room as well as the on-site amenities (the spa, indoor pool and hot tubs, and it's centralized location).

After checking in and spending some time unwinding in the room my boyfriend and I ventured to David Burke Prime Steakhouse at Foxwoods for dinner. I indulged in a few glasses of rosé while we dined on premium cuts of steak and pork paired with some delicious sides like candied bacon whipped potatoes. At the end of the meal they bring out a bit of lemon-flavored cotton candy; a sweet way to end the meal! After dinner we walked the casino floor taking in the scene and scoping out which games and machines we wanted to play before heading to bed.

The next day we woke up bright and early for an appointment at the G Spa & Salon at Foxwoods. We indulged in a 50 minute couples massage followed by a dip in their jacuzzi. My boyfriend hung around the pool and patio area while I went for a spa pedicure. I love spoiling myself with trips to the spa, and the G Spa at Foxwoods is perfect for that! With a coed jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool, a steam room, sauna, and fitness center alongside their spa treatments it's an ideal way to spend any day, but especially on your birthday.

The great thing about Foxwoods is that everything is on-site; food, shopping, gaming, everything! Making it the perfect place to escape during these cooler winter months. So after relaxing at the spa we walked back to the room and got dressed for the day. We enjoyed lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and shopping at the Tanger Outlets. We worked up an appetite shopping and ventured to Red Lantern for a sushi dinner. On Friday night's Red Lantern has $50 sushi boats making it an amazing deal for sushi lovers, plus SHRINE is right next door making it the perfect weekend destination for dinner, drinks, and dancing. We spent a few hours at SHRINE before hitting the casino floor and losing a few bucks. I'm not a big gambler, and it was my boyfriend's first time at a casino so it was a learning experience for us both!

I wish we could have spent more time exploring all that Foxwoods has to offer but I had an event in Boston Saturday afternoon so we ordered breakfast in bed (french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, oh my!) and headed back after check out. We had so much fun we are already planning to head back in 2017. Here's hoping we have better luck at the casino! Looking forward to a Winter escape at Foxwoods Resort Casino!
