What I Wore: Apple Picking at Smolak Farms

10:00 AM

It's not Fall without an annual trip to the orchard for apple cider donuts and apple picking! Growing up in Texas, I never had the pleasure of visiting vast fruit farms and orchards so this has become one of my favorite New England traditions. It seems the preferred apple picking uniform consists of skinny jeans, Bean boots, a flannel, and puffer vest but I put my own spin on the traditional look and layered up in grey denim, a loose pullover, and plaid cashmere scarf.

We headed to North Andover and spent the afternoon at Smolak Farms. In addition to apple picking, berry picking, and fresh apple cider donuts, Smolak also hosts picnics in the orchard (cutest date idea EVER), and had pumpkins readily available for the upcoming Halloween season. I got extra excited because Smolak also grows fir trees and allows you to cut your own Christmas Tree starting the day after Thanksgiving. Needless to say, I'm counting down the days till we can return and cut our own tree for the holidays!

This plaid scarf has been around my neck since the start of the season. It's from Johnstons of Elgin and was a gift from Johnstons of Elgin on a recent trip to Nantucket. It's a luxurious navy and green plaid printed cashmere and was perfect for the occasion.

A half dozen apple cider donuts, a pint of apple cider, and a few dozen freshly picked apples later, I think I've gotten enough of my apple fix to hold me over until next year's visit!
