What I Wore: The Ball of Enchantment with the Boston Ballet

11:17 PM

When I started to attend and cover the performances at the Boston Ballet a few years ago, I couldn't have imagined what a love affair would ensue! Over the years I've had the pleasure of enjoying some amazing performances from their dedicated dancers, sitting in on dress rehearsals, and mingling with their Young Partners group as well as dancing in their adult workshops at the Boston Ballet School. I've always been blown away not only by the breathtaking works they produce, but by the good they do in the community through programs like Citydance and their Adaptive Dance program for students with disabilities. It was truly an honor when I received an invitation to their annual charity ball, The Ball of Enchantment and I was delighted to attend. It's a black tie event so I immediately headed to Best Dressed to rent a gown for the festivities.

The day of the ball was a bit of a blur; I was running all over town, first to pick up my dress, then for hair, makeup, and of course blog photos! The team at Blo Dry Boutique in Fenway was kind enough to style my hair for the evening. The staff was amazing, and Daniella (my stylist) was super chill when I said I wasn't actually sure what I wanted to do with my hair! I wanted something elegant, with loose waves that would last through dinner and dancing and this half-up style was perfect for the occasion. After shooting in the freezing cold (move over, Kate Upton) Anthony and I headed to the ball.

The evening was nothing short of magical. The space was decorated beautifully, and no detail was overlooked. A large stage with a backdrop of a castle against the night sky adorned the front of the space with dozens of tables lining a runway-style walkway, leading to auction items, waterfalls, and a space for photos. After checking our coats, we were greetied with "The Floating Moat" and "Some Enchanted Evening," the signature cocktails created exclusively for this event.

Shortly after arriving we took our seats and I was happy to see I was seated with some of my favorite blogger babes; Emily of Shell Chic'd, Smita of Hogger & Co., and Neha of Love Playing Dress Up. The tables were so gorgeous! Our table was adorned with tall, bouquets of roses in various shades of pink and purple, silver goblets and chargers, and glowing candles. After nibbling on passed apps we enjoyed a decadent 4 course meal by Max Ultimate Food; lobster & gnocchi, beef tenderloin, and truffles were all on the menu. As we enjoyed our meals, some of the Boston Ballet's talented dancers joined for three stunning performances throughout the evening and shortly after the live and silent auctions began. Priceless auction items like Fashion Week experiences with Jason Wu and trips to Napa Valley, combined with the generosity of the Boston Ballet's patrons this enchanted evening raised over $1.8 million for this invaluable organization!

Once the auction was closed and dessert was served it was time to celebrate and hit the dance floor. Did you guys know Anthony is a really good dancer? We had so much fun dancing the night away and mingling with the other guests. Needless to say, it was an incredible event and I was so lucky to be a part of this magical evening and show my support for the Boston Ballet!
