Dinner at Harvest

A few weeks ago coffee with Jen of the Boston Bachelorette turned into a dinner at Harvest in Harvard Square. And not just any dinner, but their monthly Harvest Review dinner. June's special menu was themed around the bounty of farm fresh summer strawberries available, perfect for a fruit lover like me! The four course meal was truly exquisite and each course was accompanied by carefully selected wines.

The first course consisted of crispy korabuta pork rillette with pickled green strawberries, toasted Brioche, and strawberry black pepper gastrique served with a Portugese wine. The picked strawberries were tart and tangy and delicious with a dip in the strawberry gastrique.

The salad course was one of my favorites; lavender compressed strawberry salad with lime yogurt, lavender olive oil powder & pea greens served with a French Rosé. This salad was unlike any I've ever tried before. It was fresh and flavorful with delicate greens, and the olive oil powder and tangy lime yogurt made for a unique dressing.

The main course consisted of seared Scottish salmon with Yukon gold potato, leek & smoked bacon hash, and strawberry, ginger & rhubarb jam served with a California Pinot Noir. The salmon was expertly prepared, the fish was flavorful and fresh with a perfectly crisp skin and delicious hash. It was such a treat.

I'm a dessert girl, so there's no doubt that the fresh strawberry sorbet with strawberry meringue, lovage cream & oat cracker served with an Italian Moscato was my favorite course. Lovage tastes similar to celery so it was an interesting addition to this dessert, but it was an innovative complement to the sweet sorbet. The Moscato was also my favorite wine of the evening, sweet with a hint of summer peaches it was the perfect dessert wine.

Harvest would be the perfect place for dinner with parents, or to celebrate a special occasion. It has a casual elegance with spectacular food and artful presentation. I'd definitely jump at the opportunity to visit again.

Harvest is located in Cambridge, MA just beyond Brattle Square, tucked behind Ann Taylor and Anthropologie.

I was invited to attend Harvest Review and was provided complimentary food and drinks. All opinions expressed are my own.
