Pro-Tip Tuesday: Tackling my Closets

2:25 PM

When I moved into my new apartment I was super excited about the generous amount of closet space it has; two regular closets in the hallway and a linen closet in the bathroom. I was equally excited about organizing it and actually being able to see more of what I own as opposed to having it tucked away in boxes or under the bed. Here's what I came up with...

This smaller (but deeper closet) has all of my belts, sunglasses, and scarves in these Crate and Barrel baskets on the shelf, as well as all of my jeans neatly stacked. The hang bar holds my tops and blazers and I added a tension rod underneath to hang all of my handbags on. I absolutely love being able to see my bags and have them hanging instead of squished and stacked in their dustbags. I have a shoe rack in the front holding about half of my vast collection of shoes.

The second (but longer) closet holds all my boots and tights on the top shelf, my jackets, outerwear, dresses, pants, and skirts are all on the hang bar and I have yet another shoe rack holding even more shoes. This closet was very awkward to photograph, and isn't quite as put together as the other but I'm working on it and will share with you when it's done.

In the coming months I will likely buy a few more of those Crate and Barrel baskets, I absolutely love them. And perhaps I should get rid of a few pairs of shoes... Any closet organization ideas and tips you swear by?
