Ladies Lunch at Aquitaine

2:37 PM

As you saw in my previous post, some of my blogger babes and I got together for lunch at the newly renovated Aquitaine on Tremont Street. It's one of Boston's finest French restaurants and the new space certainly reflects that. It was a drizzly Friday in Boston, but it was a lovely lunch nonetheless!

We started off with appetizers; Escargot Bourguignon, Mussels en Cassoulette, and She-Crab Bisque. The escargot was warm and fresh, as were the mussels! It's not often I get to indulge in escargot and this was delicious atop fresh toasted crostini. We devoured both apps so quickly! The She-Crab Bisque had a creamy flavor despite being a bit thin, but this version was quite lovely overall with the addition of Sherry and saffron.

We sipped on rosé recommended by our server. She was lovely and poured us a taste of both rosé selections available. For mains we shared the Duck Confit Presse, Salade Nicoise, and the Salmon Gravlax Salade. The duck confit sandwich was among the best I've had; perfectly prepared on toasted bread. I also really enjoyed the Salmon Gravlax Salade to my surprise. I typically don't love smoked salmon but this house cured salmon was a light treat and perfectly fitting on a humid summer day. And of course, we couldn't resist ordering a dessert to share at the bar...

The Lemon Curd Tartelette was absolutely divine-- and all mine since the girls were busy taking photos! I love all lemon and raspberry desserts and this one was no exception. Light, flavorful, and not overwhelmingly sweet. This is a dessert I would definitely order again!

I will definitely be back. Aquitaine is perfect for a romantic date night, post work cocktail, or weekend brunch. You can get I'll be back got for brunch, the brunch menu looks absolutely delicious! Summer Black Truffle Omelette and Brioche French Toast? Yes, please!
