Boston Staycation: The Colonnade Hotel

2:45 PM

Years ago, when I worked at the Barnes & Noble Café in the Prudential Center, I would find myself cheerfully greeted by Norman, one of the concierges at Boston's iconic Colonnade Hotel. Seeing Norman always used to make my day, so when I saw his smiling face when I checked in at The Colonnade for my most recent staycation, memories of my days in the cafe and his visits came flooding back!

I knew from then on, we were in good hands for our weekend in Boston! Since Zack works holidays at the restaurant, we decided to book a room in the Back Bay for a belated Valentine's Day celebration. The Colonnade was the perfect choice! We had a 9th floor room with stunning floor to ceiling windows and a view of bustling Huntington Ave. (If you're looking for a quieter, more low-key experience you may want to request a room facing residential Saint Botolph Street).

I kicked off the stay with a soak in the tub and a bottle of bubbles while I waited for Zack to get off of work. The bathroom at The Colonnade is one of the most luxurious bathrooms I've experienced (rivaled only by those with in-mirror TV's and whirlpool tubs). With floor to ceiling marble and an oversized mirror. I was able to enjoy a long bath and then get dressed for dinner in style! When Zack arrived we headed next door to Lucca Back Bay for dinner and drinks.

By far, one of the most convenient things about this hotel is the location! Years ago, I actually lived nearby on Saint Botolph Street and it was incredible. So easy to get around with the T right out front, and so many great restaurants and happenings within a stones throw. After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a lazy night in with TV and more bubbly.

We slept in the next day, and ordered a late breakfast from room service before napping and eventually venturing out for dinner at Select Oyster Bar, one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the city. The only way this staycation could have been any better is if it were the peak of summer and we could enjoy The Colonnade's exclusive roof deck and outdoor pool! As if the pool wasn't enough, The Colonnade also has an Audi SUV available to guests; just call the concierge approximately 30 minutes before you'd like to leave and they'll arrange to drop you off or pick you up anywhere in the city.

When it finally came time to check out, we were reluctant to do so! It was such a great, low-key weekend for celebrating our first Valentine's Day together and The Colonnade was the perfect destination to do so.
